New Jobs

I got a new job that I haven't started yet. A healthcare agency called Therapeutic Alternatives. I'll be mostly driving discharged patients around the greater tri-county areas. I don't know how I feel about that, but we need a good, steady income to really set down roots. They're the first I applied to and the first peer support job I landed here, so it's reassuring to know that I won't find it hard to get a peer job here.  In the meantime, I've started delivering groceries through Instacart, a delivery service. I enjoy that because it's relatively easy money and it's stuff I love to do already - grocery shopping and driving. The pay isn't exceptional because I'm not going at it hardcore for 12 hours a day, but it's a great side gig to bring in more money. I'm thinking I'll do it every Saturday or every Sunday. Went to the DMV here to surrender my Michigan driver's license and get a North Carolina one. It was quick enough, but...

Wolf in the Hen House

I'm waiting for the Tomczaks to officially take all of their stuff from 302 into 305. The place is a mess what with our stuff and the rest of their stuff together. I know they have busy lives, but if they expect us to pay for anything (utilities, rent, or otherwise), We're gonna need a house to live in.  I'm already not happy that we have to leave the rabbits at 302 while Mariel and I stay at Delia's and Kevin's half an hour away. They offered to house the rabbits, but it's more of a mess than we want to burden them with. I'm ready to move in and I'm also ready simply settle down. Staying with Delia and Kevin is great and they're very hospitable, but we need a place of our own and we're getting pretty antsy at this point. --- Heard from an old co-worker of mine, Danny. Jennifer, a newly-hired supervisor that came in right when I left, is apparently quite the "wolf in the hen house". " Dude, you have no idea what I found out." ...

The Big Sister

As an older brother to a younger sister, there's this feeling of responsibility to be a role model. My wife would say that that's not accurate and I'm sure she's right. But I try to be this rock for others and, now that I've arrived in North Carolina for (hopefully) good, I tried putting that hat back on. But the hat no longer fits. She's my big sister. One of my- it's not a "trigger", but one of my "triggers" is feeling like someone who needs to watched over and cared for. Not in a sweet and cute way like how I might feel cared for by Mariel, but rather someone else. Anyone else. And Dee has this way of being the absolute nicest, kindest, most thoughtful person ever. I've watched as she literally started talking with complete random strangers with no hesitation.  I can't help but feel like- I keep saying "burden", but that's too extreme. Maybe "someone's responsibility"? She and her boyfriend Kevin, a ...
